A community focused film for Southern Downs Regional Council capturing authentic moments with children and locals to celebrate regional pride.
IPER partnered with Southern Downs Regional Council to produce Proud to Be Your Council, a live action film that celebrates community identity and pride. Filmed across the Southern Downs region with children and local representatives, the video captures authentic moments of connection and local spirit. The final film showcases the region’s character and council’s role in fostering community engagement.
For the Proud to Be Your Council film, IPER worked with Southern Downs Regional Council to develop a concept that reflects community pride, connection and the voices of local people. Pre-planning focused on capturing both the spirit of the region and the genuine engagement of the community — especially young voices. We explored how to tell a story that balanced live action with simple storytelling moments, and how to capture participants of all ages in a way that felt natural, warm and inclusive. Locations were selected throughout the region to visually represent the council’s landscape, lifestyle and community heart.
Production took place across the Southern Downs region, where we filmed live action footage with children, families and council representatives in real community settings. Shots were designed to feel open and authentic, capturing genuine interaction and expressions of local pride. Working with a range of ages — including young children — the shoot focused on creating an atmosphere of ease and participation, allowing each individual to connect with the camera in their own way. The result was a series of moments that organically reflect the character of Southern Downs while highlighting the council’s role within the community.
In post production the footage was refined into a cohesive film that celebrates community pride and identity. The edit was shaped to balance rhythm, narrative flow and atmosphere, allowing the visuals and voices to lead the story. Colour grading enhanced the scenic beauty and warmth of the region, while sound design supported clarity and emotional resonance. The final film delivers a confident and uplifting message that feels both genuine and visually engaging, perfectly capturing the essence of Proud to Be Your Council for Southern Downs Regional Council.
