A live action film for The University of Queensland capturing the Bachelor of Design experience through student activity and creative environments.
IPER produced a live action film for The University of Queensland to showcase the Bachelor of Design experience. Filmed on location across campus, the video captures authentic student activity, creative environments and the hands on nature of the design program. The final piece reflects the energy and diversity of the course while offering a compelling visual introduction for prospective students.
For the UQ Bachelor of Design film IPER began with a collaborative planning process to understand the course, its ethos and the experience it offers students. We worked with the project team to identify key locations across the campus where creativity, collaboration and practical learning could be captured on camera. Shot lists and schedules were developed to ensure we could document both structured learning moments and more spontaneous interactions. Pre production also considered how to visually represent the program’s diversity of design disciplines through thoughtful framing and shot selection.

Production took place on location at The University of Queensland campus, filming live action footage of students engaged in design projects, studio work and collaboration. The goal was to capture authentic moments that reflect the energy, creativity and hands on approach central to the Bachelor of Design experience. The camera work and lighting were designed to show the textures of materials, tools and working environments while also highlighting the personal engagement of the students. Filming included a mix of observational footage and directed moments to ensure a strong narrative flow across the visual material.

In post production the footage was shaped into a cohesive film that conveys both the spirit of the program and the practical essence of design learning. The edit focused on visual rhythm and clarity, weaving together student activity, campus environments and interview soundbites to represent the breadth of the course. Colour grading was applied to enhance the richness of the imagery and provide a consistent visual tone. Sound design and pacing further refined the film, resulting in an engaging piece that helps prospective students connect with the Bachelor of Design at UQ.
